Call For Action: Reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)

The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) needs your help to drive messages to Members of Congress urging them to support H.R. 2874, “The 21st Century Flood Reform Act.” H.R. 2874 reauthorizes the NFIP and makes a number of critical improvements to the NFIP including increased funds for mitigation activities, caps on overall premium increases, improved claim and mapping processes, as well as removing hurdles for more private market participation in the flood insurance market. Staff change at the Real Estate Commission

SCR has released a new form—610-Wire Fraud Alert

In response to growing cases of Wire Fraud, SCR has just released a new form dealing with that specific issue.  Wire fraud has occurred when a member’s email is hacked and the hacker monitors the communications with buyers who are under contract.  As the closing date approaches, the hacker sends an email to the buyer, generally from the buyer’s agent, that contains wiring instructions for closing funds.  Thinking this is from the real estate licensee, buyers have wired these funds to the account which, of course, is bogus.  Thousands of dollars have been involved—and recovery is virtually impossible.  Be sure...

HUGE CHANGES coming to SCR Form 310, the Residential Sales Contract

Changes will take place on September 1. Changes are coming to other SCR forms as well. The new license law required the use of MANDATED FORMS from LLR.  Reports are that the use of the mandated forms is limited and complaints are being investigated. We are offering a FREE training session on MLS forms, LLR forms, and SCR forms on August 24 from 2- 4 pm.
