Advocacy and Government Affairs Director

Our Director of Government Affairs works to keep members informed regarding local issues affecting real estate and the industry. Monitors local government, advising association leaders on lobbying local government, advising on strategy and positions on issues, and assisting association staff with communications to the general membership regarding the association’s government affairs activities.

What would we do without SCR forms? For sure, each brokerage would spend thousands of dollars to have an attorney create the real estate-related forms we need in our everyday business. Instead, we receive what we need through our South Carolina REALTOR® Association. The documents are digital, downloadable and editable, and provide members with timely documents and addendums.


Legal Hotline

SCR’s legal hotline is a superior service that allows members to receive timely advice, consultation and interpretations of specific questions that may arise in your daily practice. This is a free legal service offered to members of Western Upstate Association that is invaluable.


Advocacy and Government Affairs Director

SCR has multiple staff positions filled by those trained to oversee, report, lobby and help direct legislation on the state level that might affect our industry. Having used RPAC funds to help with elections provides SCR staff a huge presence on the halls of both the SC House and Senate and allows staff to have access to political leaders throughout the state.

National Benefits

Research and Statistics

Your National Association of REALTORS® is the nation’s leading resource for real estate research and statistics. Often quoted in the media, NAR plays a pivotal role in providing the information needed for both you and industry leaders to make decisions based on fact and not rhetoric.


Political Advocacy

Just as the local and state associations provide political advocacy efforts to their members, NAR does so on a national and international level. The REALTOR® Political Action Committee works hard to seat national senators and members of the House of Representatives who are friendly to the real estate industry and to lobby for and against legislation affecting your business. RPAC successes over the last few years have been tremendous and could not happen without member support.


Education, Certification, and Designations

NAR has a host of educational products and services for members, including both live and online educational offerings leading to certifications and designations. Members who hold designations or certifications have a considerably higher real estate income than those who have not taken advantage of these programs.
