Free Radon Class - February 29th |
Free Radon Information Class
When: Tuesday, February 28th
Date: 9:00am-11:00am
Cost: Free to members
This class will give the information for you to be able to educate your customers and clients on the presence of, testing for, and mitigation of radon.
Learn why past conventional wisdom regarding where Radon might be found is no longer valid.
Prepare for dealing with radon in a real estate transaction, and become confident that radon does not have to be a deal breaker.

REALTOR® U Master's Program Approved |
| REALTOR® University now offers a Master of Real Estate degree for real estate professionals who are interested in expanding their education to advance their career and improve their business.
Recently granted operating and degree authority by the Illinois Board of Higher Education, REALTOR® University was established by the National Association of REALTORS®.
The first Master of Real Estate courses will be available Feb. 27. Courses will be offered in eight week sessions, six times annually and taught by Ph.D.-level academics/practitioners.

Misinformation in Regards to the New Healthcare Bill and Tax on Real Estate |

Like the cap & trade "you need an energy audit" email, there has been another false email making the rounds to REALTORS® across South Carolina. This time the misinformation regards the new health care bill.
In response to these emails, NAR has created a brochure which explains the real impact of the 3.8% healthcare tax on real estate.
Click here for NAR's brochure, "The 3.8% Tax: Real Estate Scenarios and Examplesexplaining the 3.8% medicare tax on high income filers that applies to net investment income above $200k/$250k. Note the $250k/$500k cap gains exclusion for real estate still applies. Please forward this information to clients and other REALTORS® and always remember to refer tax questions to a qualified CPA. |
REALTOR.com Bath Count Questions |
SCR would like to update members on the bath counts on realtor.com. According to Brenda Carnegie of realtor.com, site users are currently able to search for listings on REALTOR.com® by full and half bath, however, the search results page does round the number of baths up to the nearest whole number. Realtor.com is working to change the way the bath count displays on the search results page so that the number of whole and the number of partial baths appears on this page. Please note that a whole bath is defined as full or 3/4 bath and partial bath is defined as 1/2 bath. The anticipated release for the bath count change is between March and June of 2012. |
